Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him falling of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship following the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Moutet, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, took control to create a final set.

Moutet defended 4 initial opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner earned victory with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
